In August 1937, Balenciaga opened his Paris couture house on Avenue George V. The year 1951 saw the designer totally transforming the silhouette by broadening the shoulders and removing the waist. His bubble skirts were odd and feminine yet ultra-modern shapes were trademarks of the house which is now owned by the French multinational company PPR. Other than ready-to-wear clothing, the accessories designed by the brand include handbags, belts and eyewear.
The Balenciaga collection is known for its creative and sophisticated eyewear proposals, primarily characterised by the high quality materials and plush designs and forms. Some of today's most famous personalities adorn Balenciaga sunglasses. The well-made designer products are sold to the public worldwide through an international distribution network which falls perfectly in line with the Balenciaga image.
